LMFF 2012 - National Graduate Showcase Part 1

To finish off MARTAN Main at LMFF 2012, I attended the National Graduate Showcase and Runway Show presented by Sportsgirl. Twelve designers from around Australia were chosen to debut their collections at LMFF 2012. I spent a good 3 hours chit chatting to each designer, discussing inspirations, techniques and whether they are stocking their pieces (I want some of these pieces ASAP

I've divided this post into 4 parts. 3 Designer Profiles posts and then a post for the Designer Runway. I way too many photos and love love love for each collection, it's hard to just have it in one! Fingers crossed in time I'll post more about these designers and the many great things they are doing/designing and selling!

Anna Langdon

"Kitschfolk Und Kindheit"

Sydney Designer Anna Langdon presents a Kitschy collection with Germany meets Australiana. Knits, Bird and Abstract Prints and Colourful Embroidery featured throughout the collection. It's a fun and bright collection. My favourite piece from the collection is this white German folkdress with a symmetrical pattern of Kangaroos, Cockatoos and Flora.

Anisha Byhoro

"Precious Threads"

RMIT Graduate Anisha Byhoro's collection entitled 'Precious Threads' presents a range of looks which have been created by one piece of fabric. The single fabric is manipulated to fit, with details created by pulling and twisting the fabric. Looks are of a neutral palette in Ivory, Grey and Cream.

Amelia Agosta

"Engineered Distortion"

Amelia Agosta from RMIT showcased a structured and experimental collection. What I love love love about her collection is her use of structural media and fabrics with 3D Printing and Neoprene, Sheers and Layering. I get Dion Lee and mild Gareth Pugh vibes from her collection, it screams strong femininity.

Chris Ran Lin

"Conflict and Fusion"

Taking a fresh approach Menswear, RMIT Graduate Chris Ran Lin's collection features a mix of Knits and Cutouts injected into classic Menswear pieces. He used a rich palette of Blue, Orange, Yellows and Blacks. Love love loving the Laser Cut Blazer and the Knit Woven Shirt... I can't fault the collection.
